We encourage your supporters to make their donations as close to the Play-A-Thon as possible, but the Play-A-Thon Website will be up and running and able to accept pledges through the last day of school in June 2024.
 

The Play-A-Thon should be a fun (and stress-free!) event for the whole family.  Here are some creative ways to get your child(ren) involved.

Have your child(ren) reach out to friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues (via phone or email) to enlist sponsors and spread the word about CWC and the Play-A-Thon. It is easy to import contacts from your email server or Facebook within your child's fundraising page. 

Make a short video of your child talking about what they value most about CWC East Valley and why it deserves support. There is an easy way to publish the video in the fundraising page and forward it to your contacts.

The following is a script your child can use to help gather support:

Hello, my name is ________. I am a ______ grader at Citizens of the World East Valley.   What I love most about my school is _______. We also have art, music, P.E., and  awesome TA in our classrooms. Our school relies on donations to help us each year.

We’re having a Play-A-Thon on  March 27, 2026 and I would be grateful if you would sponsor me. You can make a donation at cwceastvalley.org/play

Parents can support their child’s efforts by sharing the following information about CWC EV and what makes it unique and worthy of a donation:

 - CA schools receive less public funding than many other states.
 - CWC is a rare model of a school that is dedicated to creating a diverse community.
 - CWC incorporates social emotional learning into its school model without compromising rigorous academic excellence and project-based learning.
 - Art, Music, and P.E. are an important part of the core curriculum, providing a well-rounded and enriched education.  
 - CWC provides small class sizes with one credentialed teachers and Teaching Associates in classrooms.

The Play-A-Thon is unique in that it offers our students the opportunity to get involved in the fundraising process by garnering sponsors in support of their school. 

There is a valuable lesson inherent in the Play-A-Thon: the things in life we value most are only possible if we dedicate time, effort, thought, and perseverance. Our administration, teaching staff, and parents/guardian serve as great examples of the hard work and grit it takes to create and sustain such an incredible school.  

What better way for our children to learn firsthand, how they too can exemplify these important qualities and be active participants in supporting CWC EV?

It is most likely that the email associated with your students account is not the one you are expecting. It is maybe an old email or a partner/spouse/another guardian. If it needs to be changed to you, please email support at giving@cwclosangeles.org to request a change.

Due to limitations with the software, the image appears sideways when taken with specific versions of mobile devices. If you have an image that is appearing sideways, it is best to use this tool to reposition it, and then re-upload it.

A personal URL is a shortened link to your team or personal page that you can send to friends and family in emails. You were sent a link through Rallybound with your unique nickname. Both children should be associated with the same login email. When you log in, it will default to one child. To find the other child's profile, click on the Profile icon in the upper right hand corner. You should see a drop-down with both children listed. Email giving@cwclosangeles.org with any questions.

If you'd like to cover the processing fee simply check the checkbox and you'll be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to CWC. However, on the fundraising page, the amount donated to the student will be displayed.

No, there is no fee just for using the site. 

We encourage making a donation to a specific student to help them reach their fundraising goals, but you can definitely make a general donation to a team to help reach the team goals.

Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.

Any donor who mailed their donation and provided an address can request a receipt by emailing giving@cwclosangeles.org

Yes, anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.

A Tax ID number identifies Citizens of the World  as a 501(c)(3) non-profit Organization. The Citizens of the World Tax ID number is: 45-3532127

When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's Recent Donations list.  This may be your name, or it could be something such as "From the Flarbman family" or "in memory of dear Tia Rosa."

We encourage you to get all donations in as close to the Play-A-Thon as possible, but the Play-A-Thon website will be up and running and able to accept pledges through the last day of school in June.

You are receiving these emails because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to your headquarters and edit your account preferences.

If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to CWC Los Angeles. You can also cash the check and make a donation via online or check to CWC.

It is not a good idea to send a cash donation in the mail. You may drop off cash on campus along with your information or you can deposit the cash into your checking account and send a personal check from your account. For a schedule of when someone will be on campus, please email mblas@cwclosangeles.org.

You can't enter a check online. What you can do is enter a check as a pledge. This can be done in the fundraising section of your headquarters page. The status of the check will be pending until the check is received by Citizens of the World.

As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the Recent Donations list.

Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select ‘My Fundraising Report' on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team.

To send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your campaign site. You will be redirected to your Fundraiser Dashboard.
2. Locate the relevant donation record in the Recent Donations list at the bottom right of the Dashboard homepage. Alternatively, access all donation records in the Reports tab.
3. In the donation record of the donor you'd like to thank, click the email icon or "Send Email" (If the donor didn't submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)
4. Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"

Each student is both as part of their classroom “team” and individually to bring in as many sponsors and raise as much money in donations as they can to meet the school’s fundraising goals.  The entire goal of this fundraiser is to ask the students to take part in their community and help their school  In addition, there are some immediate incentives to help inspire students to locate sponsors and raise money.  

Each class, referred to as a "team" on the fundraising website, has the goal of 100% participation from the students, and a fundraising goal specific to the class. 

100% participation means each student obtains at least one donation, that they have personally given or asked for, of any amount.

The spirit with which parents make donations to the classmates of their children represents among the best instincts of families in our community.

With that said, we do want to encourage each family in the community to get involved in some manner on their own behalf.

We'd like to ask families who wish to make donations to classmates who have not already obtained a donation of their own, to wait until the week of our Play-A-Thon in order to give those families the chance to get involved in the fundraising on their own behalf.

The goal for each team or classroom is to reach 100% participation.

In previous years, classes have chosen a movie day or pajama day that each class could earn.

Classes can choose among themselves what they would like their reward for 100% participation in their class to be.

There is no one answer to this question, as families have networks of friends and colleagues to reach out to of different sizes, and widely varying time they have available to devote to fundraising. 

While we have set a default goal of $325 per student, you can personalize your goal and raise or lower it. Set an amount that is right for your family and achievable by your student.

 

A unique donation is any amount of money given either directly to your student's page on the giving website, mailed to the school, or turned into the main office during drop-off and pickup.

Please keep in mind that each donation made requires oversight and data entry from staff or a parent volunteer. Multiple donations by the same donor will be grouped as one donation.

For example:
Dividing a $20 donation into 20 $1 donations from the same person will not help toward earning incentives, the donations will be totaled and entered under the donor's name as one unique donation.

This is not to say that a donor can't give more than once, but again, the goal is to reach out to as many friends and family as possible to give them the opportunity to support your child and to participate within the intended spirit of the event.
